At Pa Family Support Alliance (PFSA), we believe protecting children is not just a professional responsibility, but rather a shared community commitment. That’s the heart and foundation of the Blue Ribbon Campaign for Protecting Children.

The blue ribbon serves as a powerful reminder that each of us has a role to play in preventing child abuse and neglect. What began as a grandmother’s tribute to the grandson she lost to abuse has grown into a national symbol of awareness, action, and hope. Today, the Blue Ribbon Campaign calls on all of us to have meaningful conversations, learn the signs of abuse, and step forward to support children and families.

Everyone Has a Role in Protecting Kids from Abuse and Neglect

Child protection does not belong to one system, profession, or agency. Instead, it belongs to all of us. You have a role to play, whether you’re a teacher noticing changes in a student, a neighbor offering support to a family under stress, a coach creating a safe and encouraging space, a community leader promoting child-friendly environments, or a concerned individual who chooses to speak up. Every action matters and every voice counts. Children are safer when communities stay aware, remain connected, and are willing to step forward. No matter who you are, what you do, or where you live, remember that you are part of the solution. #ProtectPAKids

Ways to Get Involved

The Blue Ribbon Campaign is about awareness, but it’s also about action. You can get involved by wearing the blue ribbon on your clothing or bag, or by sharing the blue ribbon on social media to show your commitment to child safety. Consider hosting a “Turn PA Blue Day” at your workplace, school, or organization in April to spark conversations about prevention, and share stories of hope and impact online using hashtags like #ProtectPAKids.

You can also learn and advocate by requesting training, exploring prevention resources, and trusting your instincts if something feels wrong. Awareness and intuition are some of our strongest tools for protection.
