PFSA supports policies, programs, and laws that align with our primary goal of preventing child abuse and neglect throughout the Commonwealth. We advocate for increased funds to support prevention programs (support and education) for anyone in a parenting role as well as the continued improvement of PA’s Child Protective Services Law.

During the 2017-2018 Legislative Session PFSA successfully advocated for the passage of:

• House Bill 2133 (Act 89 of 2018), sponsored by Rep. Kathy Watson,  Establishes the Kinship Navigator Program, designed to assist grandparents raising grandchildren learn about available resources and benefits. Learn More
• House Bill 1539 (Act 88 of 2018), sponsored by Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski, grants temporary guardianship in 90-day increments for up to one year to grandparents or other family members when the child(ren)’s parents are not able to care for them. Learn More
