Weis Markets Donates $10,000 to the Pa Family Support Alliance

The donation will support the organization’s efforts to #ProtectPAKids

HARRISBURG, Pa. – On the eve of Giving Tuesday, a global day set aside for giving back, Weis Markets made a $10,000 contribution to the Pa Family Support Alliance (PFSA), the state leader in child abuse prevention and child protection. Weis’ generous donation will support PFSA’s award-winning PA Blue Ribbon Champions for Safe Kids campaign that highlights the role that each individual can play in protecting Pennsylvania’s children.

“Our organization is beyond thrilled that Weis Markets has once again decided to generously contribute to our Blue Ribbon Champions for Safe Kids campaign,” Angela Liddle, President and CEO of the Pa Family Support Alliance. “As a result, PFSA is able to help moms and dads be strong, positive role models for their children, and teach citizens across the Commonwealth how best to respond when they are concerned about a child’s safety. We thank Weis Markets for caring about Pennsylvania’s children.”

As a locally focused company, Weis Markets is proud to support deserving nonprofits in the communities we serve. That’s why our Giving Tuesday efforts on December 3 allows us to join with customers to donate to local charitable organizations, chosen by our store associates,” said Ron Bonacci, Weis Markets Vice President of Advertising and Marketing. “We can think of no more deserving organization to partner with for the launch of this program than the Pa Family Support Alliance, which provides essential support to keep children in our communities safe.”

Weis Markets Director of Public Relations Dennis Curtin announced the donation to PFSA on Good Day PA!, a daily morning program on Harrisburg’s ABC affiliate, WHTM-TV, on Monday. Weis Markets has supported the PA Blue Ribbon Champions campaign since its inception in 2017. PFSA has been recognized with national and state awards for this inspirational movement to prevent child abuse. The 2020 campaign will kick off in January with a call for nominations to recognize individuals who have gone above and beyond to protect Pennsylvania’s children. The campaign culminates with an awards ceremony to honor those individuals during April which is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

“We welcome other companies, community organizations, and individuals to follow Weis Markets’ example and invest in the protection of our most precious resource in Pennsylvania – our children,” said Liddle. Donations can be made by visiting the organization’s website at pa-fsa.org/donate.
