Deadline Nears for Blue Ribbon Champions for Safe Kids Nominations

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Time is running out to nominate Pennsylvania’s everyday heroes who protect children and strengthen families. Pa Family Support Alliance (PFSA), the statewide leader in child abuse and neglect prevention, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, is accepting nominations for the 2026 Blue Ribbon Champions for Safe Kids Awards but the window closes at 5 p.m. on November 7, 2025.

Each year, PFSA honors Pennsylvanians who go above and beyond to keep children safe and nurture strong family connections. Honorees will be recognized during a public ceremony on April 1, 2026, in the Capitol Rotunda in Harrisburg to launch National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Nominees can include professionals, volunteers, educators, media representatives, law enforcement officers, or anyone who has made a lasting impact on child safety. Schools, community organizations, government agencies, faith-based groups, and individuals are encouraged to act now and submit a nomination before the deadline.

“There’s still time to recognize the champions among us,” said Angela Liddle, PFSA President and CEO. “Every nomination shines a light on someone who has stepped up for a child in need. We can’t afford to wait when it comes to protecting kids.”

The urgency is real. According to the 2024 Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Annual Child Protective Services Report, the state confirmed 4,756 substantiated cases of child abuse, including 60 child fatalities and 82 near-fatalities.

Submitting a nomination is free and simple, and winners will be selected by an independent panel of judges. Nominations must be received by 5 p.m., November 7, can be made at pafsa.org/nominate.
