Local Scranton Resident Receives Blue Ribbon Champion for Safe Kids Award

The award is given to individuals that have gone above and beyond the call of duty to protect children

Harrisburg, Pa.Pa Family Support Alliance, the state’s leader in child abuse prevention, has awarded Jennifer Wildermann with the Blue Ribbon Champion for Safe Kids Award. This award is given to four Pennsylvanians that have gone above and beyond the call of duty to support and protect Pennsylvania’s children.

Wildermann is a Program Manager in Lackawanna County’s Office of Family and Youth Service. She founded the agency’s Diagnostic Unit in 2006 and continues to manage it. In this role, she works to prevent child abuse and neglect by addressing the root causes and providing parents with evidence-based services tailored to meet their individual needs. She is a tireless advocate and works to ensure that parents have the tools they need to be the best parents they can be. Within her agency, she is known for her direct outreach and always looking to connect community organizations with parents and caregivers, so they have additional support.

“Jennifer’s founding of the diagnostic unit demonstrates that to combat child abuse and neglect, we must first look for ways to prevent it,” said Angela Liddle, President, and CEO of the Pa Family Support Alliance. “Not only did she establish the diagnostic unit, but Jennifer also continues to ensure that local families have the resources they need. She is out there on the front lines every single day doing the hard work to help protect Pennsylvania’s children.”

In honor of this accomplishment, Pa Family Support Alliance is debuting a video on its Facebook page today which will feature Wildermann receiving the award. The video can be found here.

As part of the month-long awareness campaign, Pa Family Support Alliance is debuting video messages from the Department of Human Services Acting Secretary Meg Snead, State Senators Judy Ward and Maria Collett, as well as State Representatives Sheryl Delozier and Pamela DeLissio.
