National Child Abuse Prevention Month: Preview of Events
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month and PA Family Support Alliance (PFSA) is committed to promoting awareness and providing education to communities and stakeholders across the commonwealth.
Throughout April, PFSA is scheduled to host a variety of activities and events, including its annual flag planting event at the Harrisburg Capitol, a virtual fundraiser to support prevention programs and services, an interactive data map displaying child abuse and fatality data by county, a memorial video honoring children who were fatal victims of child abuse, and messages of support from special guests throughout Pennsylvania.
PFSA will also honor four individuals from across the Commonwealth who have gone the extra mile to protect children in Pennsylvania. These individuals are recognized as our Blue Ribbon Champions for Safe Kids due to their exceptional contributions to preventing child abuse and neglect throughout Pennsylvania. Each week during April, PFSA will announce a new Blue Ribbon Champion for Safe Kids and feature that individual on our website and social media.
PFSA is also excited to host its second annual Spotlight Speaker Series webinar event. This speaker series hosts experts delivering relevant, innovative, and timely webinar presentations on topics related to child abuse prevention. A total of four live webinars will be held throughout April. Registration is free for each session, with CEUs, CLEs, and Act 48 credits available for anyone attending a live speaker session.
Finally, PFSA will provide a virtual version of its Painting for Prevention program in partnership with Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention (CBCAP) agencies across the commonwealth. PFSA has developed and printed a statewide symbol for prevention on personal canvases for participants to paint as part of the project. Everyone who receives and paints a canvas is encouraged to share their work of art virtually on social media using #ProtectPAKids to show unity for preventing child abuse and neglect across Pennsylvania.
PFSA invites you to connect with us throughout April to learn more about how you can help prevent child abuse and neglect in your community and across the commonwealth. Let’s work together to #ProtectPAKids!
